West Union Fire Protection Department responded to 12 calls in 2018 - 9.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in West Union included 11 fires - five structure fires, two vehicle fires and four other fires.

In all, the department saw $151,400 in fire loss - or about $13,764 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, four fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents.

The West Union Fire Protection Department had an annual budget of $21,730 in 2018.
