Xenia Volunteer Fire Protection Department responded to 21 calls in 2018 - 40 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Xenia Volunteer included 19 fires - five structure fires, two vehicle fires and 12 other fires.

In all, the department saw $43,000 in fire loss - or about $2,263 per fire.

The department also received two false calls.
