Cost of college went up for all students at Lake Land College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.5 percent for 2018-19 at Lake Land College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $7,934 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $120 more than the $7,814 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 73.1 percent more than residents this year, or $13,736. Their price tag grew 0.9 percent from $13,616 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. About 1 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 76 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 592 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.8 million and 102 students took out student loans totaling more than $341,517.

Including all undergraduates (4,583), 2,173 students used grants or scholarships totaling $9.3 million, and 495 students took out $1.6 million in federal student loans.
