City of Mattoon issued the following announcement on July 23.
Parents needing to obtain a copy of a birth certificate before a child goes to school needs to plan ahead. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mattoon City Hall is currently closed to the public, so all requests for birth certificates are being handled by mail. The City Clerk's Office encourages parents to allow extra time when requesting copies of birth certificates. Learn more by visiting the Birth Certificate Application page:
