Analysis: Charleston pays $5.43 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Charleston Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.4 percent of the $1,276,760 the Charleston Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $5.43 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Charleston contributed $1,077,518 to the fund, which saw a $262,103 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $198,334, or 15.5 percent, in 2018. Another $908 came from other unspecified sources.
