Analysis: Charleston pays $4.10 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Charleston Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 80.4 percent of the $1,227,749 the Charleston Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $4.10 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Charleston contributed $987,044 to the fund, which saw a $211,486 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $240,179, or 19.6 percent, in 2018. Another $526 came from other unspecified sources.
