ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 109: Downstate Stabilization Grants Awarded to Four Small Businesses in Clay County for $81,650

Illinois State House District 109 issued the following announcement on June 5.

State Rep. Darren Bailey has been notified that four small businesses in Flora have been awarded grants who have been adversely affected from the coronavirus shutdowns. Small businesses work with their local and city, village and county governments to apply for these grants.

The first four businesses awarded grants include

Angela’s Village Florist and More (City of Flora) – $25,000

Los Cazadores (DBA: Los Tres Caminos) (City of Flora) – $25,000

Memorial Lane Flowers (City of Flora) – $18,000

NV Nails (City of Flora) – $13,650

“I am pleased to see some of our local small businesses are going to be receiving help in this first round of awards,” commented Rep. Bailey. “A big thank you to the City of Flora for working with these businesses to file their applications! These grants will help our neighbors and friends who were forced to shut down and have suffered through no fault of their own.”

According to the Department of Community and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the first round of downstate small business stabilization grants has been awarded to 65 businesses spanning 28 downstate communities in the amount of $1.3 million in grants.

The state moved Community Development Block Grant allocations in the amount of $20 million to be available for this program. The Downstate Small Business Stabilization is intenced to provide working capital funds to community’s businesses economically impacted by the COVID-19 virus.
