City of Effingham issued the following announcement on April 17.
We are all navigating this crisis the best we know how. Though this is uncharted territory for everyone, there is still a silver lining to be found. We are in this together, and every day, we find more ways to support one another.
Recently, the Illinois Department of Human Services launched a free emotional support text line for Illinoisans who are in need of a little extra support: Call4Calm. To speak with a counselor, text TALK to 552020, or HABLAR for Spanish-speaking counselors. There are additional resources available using the same number on your mobile phone, along with keywords like “unemployment” or “food” or “shelter”.
We encourage you all to click the link below to find out more information on Call4Calm and to share it with your friends and family. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to cope, but no one has to struggle alone. Stay well, stay home and stay hopeful.
