After school closures began hitting the local community March 16, local schools around the area responded quickly with meals and alternate learning curriculum for their students.

The Shelbyville teachers and staff have created Continued Learning Kits (CLKs) that can either be picked up by parents or accessed from home electronically., reported the Shelbyville Daily Union. The kits give students the ability to keep up with their studies while the schools are shut down.

The electronic CLKs can be accessed at the district website.

Anyone having trouble accessing the CLKs are asked to contact their school office. Teachers will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. during normal school days to answer questions from students or parents, and teacher email addresses can be accessed on the district website.

The district has also coordinated with Aramark Food Service to provide students with meals during the school closures.

In addition to pickup locations, some meals are being delivered to students and their families.

To sign up for meals, guardians need to contact the school district with the names and ages of children, the parent or guardian name and the preferred method of receiving the meals.

School numbers are as follows: Main Street 217-774-4731; Moulton 217-774-2169; High School 217-774-3926.
