Illinois state Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) wants residents interested in providing childcare services to workers in need during the coronavirus crisis to be aware of all the possibilities.
“You may qualify for an Emergency Child Care License to care for small groups of children,” Bailey posted on Facebook.
Earlier this month, the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development, the Department of Human Services (IDHS) and Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) teamed to establish a structure and system for all such providers to apply for an emergency child care license that is still a work in progress. Already, the state has received at least 150 applications for the centers, which typically operate in smaller group sizes than standard facilities.
Meanwhile, Bailey continues to monitor the impact the disease is having across the state.
“According to the Illinois Department of Public Health director, the most vulnerable people for experiencing the harshest reactions to the virus are the elderly, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems," Bailey added in a post to his website.
“This will be a tough time for small businesses.”
In accordance with the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation, all state parks, fish and wildlife areas, recreational areas, and historic sites have all closed to the public.
