State Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) recently hosted the Koertge family at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield.

The Koertge family is from the city of Albion in Edwards County, which is in the 109th District, according to a post on the lawmaker's website

Bailey took time to talk about various paintings and artifacts around the Capitol, including a portrait of former Gov. John Tanner. Originally a farmer from Louisville in Clay County, Tanner was Illinois’ 21st governor. He is well known for bringing the state out of a deficit during his term from 1897 to 1901.

Bailey also showed the family the underground tunnel system between the Capitol and the Stratton Office Building, which is often used during inclement weather.

In addition to visiting the State Capitol, the Koertge family was able to see the Lincoln family church pew at the First Presbyterian Church and visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum.
