Arthur Community Unit School District 305 Board of Education met Nov. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The regular meeting of the Arthur Board of Education was called to order by President Beth Wiley at 6:00 pm on November 20, 2019 in the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School Cafeteria with the following members present: Suzi Berkich, Brock Casteel, Monica Green, Ryan Nettles, Justin Wierman, and Beth Wiley. Mr. Shannon Cheek, administrators and visitors were also present. Kristie Mechling was absent.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Members from ALAH FFA and their sponsor, Mrs. Megan Beckmier were present. The members spoke about their experiences at the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis and other projects the group is working on. A new greenhouse for the program is currently under construction,

During public comment, Kristin Nall offered congratulations to the Atwood-Hammond Grade School 6th through 8th grade band as they were chosen to perform the Star Spangled Banner at the Junior High Girls State Basketball Tournament.

A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Monica Green to approve the consent agenda as presented which included: the Minutes of the October 16, 2019 meeting, bills of $489,778.70, Treasurer's Report, Board Protocols from IAŞB Board Self-Evaluation, a donation received from the Knights Youth Sports Association and the Principal Reports. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

Mrs. Sage Hale presented information regarding the Mentor Program for teachers on behalf of Mrs. Kirsten Perkins.

Ms. Robin Yockey from Mose, Yockey, Brown & Kull LLC presented the Annual Financial Report for FY2019.

Mr. Cheek presented the tentative 2019 tax levy. A motion was made by Brock Casteel, seconded by Ryan Nettles to approve the tentative tax levy. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Suzi Berkich, seconded by Justin Wierman to adopt the resolution for intergovernmental transfer of real estate to the Village of Hammond for the property commonly known as the Hammond Ball Diamond. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Brock Casteel, seconded Ryan Nettles to approve the Risk Management Plan as presented. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

Superintendent's Report was presented. See attached.

During Board Comment, Beth Wiley offered her thanks to the schools for the Veterans' Day programs. Ryan Nettles thanked some of the administration for attending his daughter's college signing.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Suzi Berkich to enter executive session at 7:47 pm under the Open Meetings Act for the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity. 5 ILCS 120/2 ( c X1) and for collective bargaining matters between the District and its employees (5 ILCS 120/2(C)(2)]. All members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Monica Green, seconded by Ryan Nettles to leave executive session at 8:25 pm. All present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Justin Wierman to accept executive session minutes as read in executive session. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Monica Green to approve the personnel report as presented which includes: approve Ms. Katelyn Bright as HS Counselor, approve Ms. Lindsay Wells as LGS Kindergarten Teacher, accept resignation from Ms. Emily Kauffman as the JH Girls Track Coach, accept resignation from Ms. Jennifer Hoffman as the HS Administrative Assistant, accept the resignation from Ms. Kali Norcross as Special Education Teacher at LGS at the end of the current school year, accept resignation from Ashley Lehman as the JH Assistant Track Coach. Upon roll, all members present voted yea. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Ryan Nettles, seconded by Justin Wierman to adjourn at 8:25 pm. All members present voted yea. Motion carried.
