City of Arcola City Council met Sept. 30.
Here is the minutes provided by the council:
Mayor Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Huckstep, Smith, Hensley, Ferguson, Budd and Foran. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Anderson and Attorney Bequette were not present.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderwoman Huckstep led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.
PUBLIC COMMENT There were none.
PRESENTATION BY WILMER OTTO AND PAT MONAHAN Pat Monahan spoke first regarding the state of the old Lindenmeyer building and that something needs to be done.
Wilmer Otto stated his intent is to purchase this building and restore the east wall with a concrete and masonry wall. To purchase building Erica Thieman will need to payoff $25,000 mortgage and lien placed by scaffolding company will need to be satisfied. Pekin Insurance is in negotiations with them on this matter. ESI Consultants, LTD. inspected the building and gave report of structure repairs needed. He also has an estimated cost quote from Midwest Heritage Construction in amount of $208,080 for construction work. They are hoping to receive a TIF Storefront Grant for half of the construction cost. They are hoping to receive private donations to cover some or all of the remaining costs. The hope is to complete this and place it in a “Not for Profit” status. Wilmer and Pat both feel it is important for the downtown to take on this project and that the building not be torn down.
EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS LITIGATION (5 ILCS 120 2/C) At 7:50 p.m. Alderman Foran moved to go into executive session to discuss litigation and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
REGULAR SESSION AT 8:15 P.M. COMMITTEE REPORTS
There were none.
As this concluded the business of the meeting Alderwoman Huckstep moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Smith. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.
