HIGH SCHOOL

School year 2018-2019 just began, and the students are already gearing up for the back-to-back weeks of Pink Week and Homecoming! We are finally getting into a routine of full days of school, and the Raiders are beginning to rise to the task of a new year.

As of September 13, our enrollment totals: Freshmen 62; Sophomores 46; Juniors 55; Seniors 62. Total: 225. We had one junior leave to be home schooled, while another junior, who was previously home-schooled, is scheduled to return to school today.

Here are a few other notes from the High School:

Congratulations to choir members Elise Miller, Alaina Morse, Hunter Mott, Isaac Nidiffer, Aden Sanders, and Hailey Wilson for being selected to the 2018 Millikin Vocal Festival! These singers will be a part of a 300 voice choir made up of schools from 4 different states. The festival takes place over two days with a concert presented at Kirkland Fine Arts Center on Monday, September 17 at 4:30 PM. Congratulations to these vocalists!

Volleyball Lady Raiders go 3-2 today at LSA tourney; falling to Okaw Valley & Unity and defeating Eisenhower in pool play, then defeating Okaw Valley & MacArthur to win the consolation. Way to fight back! Congrats to Allie Dunn for making All-tournament team!!!!

Raider football team is 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Central Illinois Conference as of Sept. 13. Central A&M played at Warrensburg-Latham Friday, which was televised by CW23 as part of their Friday Night Rivals series.

The Raiders' Freshman Volleyball team spent September 1 at the Sangamon Valley Tournament. Central A&M finished 1-3 on the day of volleyball.

Evidence shows that student involvement in extra-curricular clubs and activities leads to more academic success. To help our Raiders find a connection, Central A&M High School held its 2nd Activity Fair during Study Hall Friday.

Students were able to learn about a variety of clubs and activities from student leaders. Sign ups were available.

Great to see Raiders reaching out to make the most of high school.

A couple Raiders enjoyed a little success on the lake this past weekend. Senior Austin Sloan and Junior Connor Hutchins placed third in the bass tournament on Lake Decatur. They walked away with some nice prizes. This is the first of three tournaments which will crown a champion.

A big shout out of thanks to the people from Assumption who are providing ambulance service for our home football games this year. Raider Nation deeply appreciates your time and service to the safety of the student-athletes. So blessed in Raider Nation.

Central A&M High School is pleased to announce our new athletic trainer, Mike Guddendorf. Guddendorf is a graduate of Yorkville High School and Millikin University. He is provided to us through services of Decatur Memorial Hospital. Mike begins his duties tonight with the home varsity football game vs. Westville. When you see him at our games and practices, please give him a warm welcome to Raider Nation. Welcome, Mike!

Cross Country team continues to improve after running at invitationals in Rochester and Shelbyville. Central A&M competed in Tuscola this past Saturday.

FFA is also off to a great start with their annual kickoff cookout.

We are still getting new files on students each week and placing new students.

Soccer season is underway. Students are enjoying the games.

Volleyball season will be starting shortly. Students are practicing volleyball skills.

We have implemented several new incentives this year, most of the kids seem excited about them.

We have 6 students attending CAM High School for ½ day schedule. Things have been going very smooth for them. They really seem to like being in town. They are looking forward to participating in homecoming activities.
