Q4 2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Shelby County?

There were nine offenders released on parole during the fourth quarter that live in Shelby County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by East Central Reporter.

The data shows that four men and five women were released in Shelby County. The median age of the parolees was 39. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old man sentenced for a property crime in 2017, and the oldest was a 49-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving alcohol in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Valerie Y. Devore. She was convicted of homicide in 2001 when she was 30 years old. She is now 47.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the fourth quarter in each Shelby County municipality.
