Q1 2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Shelby County?

There were eight offenders released on parole during the first quarter that live in Shelby County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by East Central Reporter.

The data shows that all of the released offenders in Shelby County were men. The median age of the parolees was 35. The youngest parolee was a 27-year-old man sentenced for a crime against justice in 2016, and the oldest was a 42-year-old man sentenced for a financial crime or fraud in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Leiff A. Leonberger. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2012 when he was 34 years old. He is now 41.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the first quarter in each Shelby County municipality.
