City of Mattoon issued the following announcement on April 16.
The City of Mattoon has installed new security cameras at the Yard Waste Facility. The City accepts leaves, limbs, grass clippings, plants, shrubs and most other forms of yard and garden waste. Yard waste may be disposed of in paper bags designed for the purpose. Yard waste may not deposited in plastic bags. Construction debris, lumber, household waste, and other items may not be disposed of at the facility. Fines of $50 to $750 can be accessed for dumping prohibited materials. The City of Mattoon asks that residents help spread the word that prohibited materials, including lumber and other construction debris, may not be deposited at the Yard Waste Facility.
