The price of local government in 2017: City of Olney

The City of Olney budget was $14.43 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $3,760 per household.

That's an increase of 15 percent from 2016, when the city spent $12.55 million, or $3,270 per household.

Olney has 3,838 households and a population of 8,955.

Since 2001, the City of Olney budget has fallen by 25.6 percent, from $19.41 million. The city population has grown 3.8 percent over the same period, from 8,631.

Salaries accounted for 22.1 percent of city spending in 2017. Olney property taxpayers paid $3.19 million for 52 full-time employees and 109 part-time employees.
