Clay City Community Unit School District 10 students suspended, expelled 23 times in a single school year

Clay City Community Unit School District 10 reported one expulsions and 22 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 23 students during the year. That equates to 7.1 percent of the 326 students enrolled.

Students were expelled for one incident with violence without physical injury.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes eight incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For seven incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 10 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.
