Arcola Community Unified School District 306 students suspended 33 times in a single school year

Arcola Community Unified School District 306 reported 33 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 33 students during the year. That equates to 4.5 percent of the 735 students enrolled.

Of the 28 in-school suspensions, including 18 elementary or middle schoolers and 10 high schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 16 incidents. There were eight incidents of violence without physical injury. For 27 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes three incidents. There were one incidents of drugs. For two incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
