Paris Union School District 95 students suspended 112 times in a single school year

Paris Union School District 95 reported 112 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 112 students during the year. That equates to 11.3 percent of the 987 students enrolled.

Of the 96 in-school suspensions, 68 were given to boys and 28 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 88 incidents. There were six incidents of violence without physical injury. For 68 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 16 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 14 incidents. There were two incidents of violence without physical injury. For seven incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
