Stewardson-Strasburg Community Unit School District 5A recently issued the following announcement.
It's going to be a great school year!
Stewardson-Strasburg Schools is looking forward to a great new school year with a lot of new faces. Though we will miss the teachers who have left, we feel blessed with a "Dream Team" of energetic, talented, and caring teachers/staff members. Our district is fully staffed and prepared to offer a wide range of academic, art, music, vocational, and extra-curricular programs. Increasing opportunities for our students is top priority, and we continually plan for next steps.
The District will be offering a full Pre-K For All program thanks to a 5 year grant through the State. There will be two sessions daily, morning and afternoon. We are looking forward to having our littlest learners in our school community!
Our energies have not solely been focused on improving staffing and programs. The District has also made improvements to our facilities. New doors have been installed in the HS gym lobby, the east entrance to the HS gym, and to the tech shop to increase safety and energy efficiency. Much needed tuckpointing is being completed on the west side of the high school as a part of our long term planning to preserve our brick exterior. A new concrete apron and ramp have been completed at the west entrance of the gym lobby to improve accessibility and aesthetics. This compliments the work our Ag department began in the spring to make a casual area for outdoor lunching and study. The JH roof is being resealed and coated along with improvements to our landscaping and playground. Much of this work has been financially possible thanks to Shelby County Sale Tax proceeds. We are grateful provide a safe, clean, and pleasing learning environment for our students.
Thank you for caring for your school and the children of Stewardson-Strasburg. It is our goal to promote positive attitudes, growth, and self worth. We look forward to serving the communities in caring for our most valuable asset, kids.
