HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital issued the following announcement on Aug. 17.
On August 27, the HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital and HSHS Medical Group will welcome Suzanne Clarke, MD, to the HSHS Good Shepherd Family Health Clinic at 207 S. Pine St., Shelbyville, Ill. She comes to the community with nearly 20 years’ experience as a family medicine physician.
Dr. Clarke received her Doctorate of Medicine from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio in 1995. She performed her residency at the Kline Family Practice Residency Program in Harrisburg, Pa. She is also board certified in family medicine.
Her tenure in medicine has taken her practice to several states including Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Texas. She has also taught medicine at the University of Tennessee as an associate professor.
“I am looking forward to working in the Shelbyville community,” Dr. Clarke said. “When I visited, I found the community very kind and welcoming. We are looking for ground on which to buy or build a home and anxious to move forward with that. My passion is serving quality care within rural communities. That’s where I feel I am most needed. I was so impressed with the HSHS history and philosophy. I feel like that we are like-minded.
“I am also excited to be part of a holistic approach to medicine. I believe in the numbers of science but also the spiritual side of caregiving. I have prayed with my patients before. In fact, during my residency, I spent a semester working with reverends and priests. It is nice to see medicine broadening from physical healing to include a more holistic approach. Our patients are important and worthy of this approach. I take extreme pleasure to be able to serve them. Though I have been in practice since 1999, I still learn a great deal from my patients.”
Starting August 27, Dr. Clarke will be accepting new patients and looks forward to serving pediatric patients through senior adults at HSHS Good Shepherd Family Health.
“I love what I do. I love to share that passion with the people I work with and my patients. I am very excited to begin my next chapter of medicine in Shelbyville with the HSHS Medical Group,” said Dr. Clarke.
