Golf recap 2 form 1084

HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on June 27.

The HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital Foundation invites you to be a part of their 10th Annual Golf Benefit on Friday, July 20 at the Effingham Country Club. The theme for this year’s event is “Keeping Our Community in Rhythm with ‘Holes for Heart Care.’” This promises to be a day of exciting activities, and outstanding golf.

Registration begins at 10 a.m., with lunch being served from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. The noon Tee-Off begins the four-person scramble which consists of thirty-two teams of four players.

Special features this year include:

  • Putting Contest before Tee-Off
  • Golf Genius Mobile Scoring: Participants can download the Golf Genius app on their smart phone for mobile scoring.  This app allows for easier score posting and a features a live leaderboard that will be available on their phone, as well as the TV’s in the clubhouse.
  • $1 Million Hole-in-One Challenge: This $1 Million Hole-in-One Challenge, in conjunction with “Perfect Golf Event,” will be held once all the golfers have completed play.  The post-event reception will be on the clubhouse patio overlooking the 18th green. Several registered golfers will be chosen by raffle drawing to participate in the Hole-in-One Challenge and take one Tee to Green 150-yard shot on the 18th hole.  A Hole-in-One wins $1 Million. Multiple Hole-in-Ones will split the winnings.
St. Anthony’s Director of Philanthropy Michael Wall shared the very special history of the Golf Event. “In 2009, Jonathan Kabbes organized the First Annual ‘Golf for a Cure’ to benefit St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital. Jonathan wanted to do something to help fight cancer in his community,” he explained. “For two years he volunteered his time to organize the ‘Golf for a Cure.’ He has teamed with the hospital to host the Golf Benefit, which last year netted over $32,000,” Wall said. “The Foundation has been honored to partner with Jonathan over the past eight years to continue to host a successful fundraiser that impacts our ministry of healing. 2018 marks the 10th year of our combined efforts.”

Proceeds from previous Golf Benefits have supported the Hope & Healing Imaging department campaign, the Maternity unit renovation project, Hospice, and emergent cardiac care. Proceeds from this year’s Golf Benefit will benefit the Emergency department at HSHS St. Anthony’s. More than 24,000 patients are seen in the Emergency department each year. People of all ages and walks of life seek healing and care as a result of sport injuries, agricultural or industrial accidents, heart attacks, strokes, or trauma from traffic accidents. St. Anthony’s doors are always open with highly-skilled physicians and dedicated team members to passionately care for patients and families.

One of the hospital’s main emergent conditions is cardiac issues. Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States. St. Anthony’s continues to educate and reach out to the community about the importance of early identification – the sooner heart issues are identified, the better. This year’s event seeks to enhance the hospital’s communication abilities during emergent care situations. Proceeds from “Holes for Heart Care” will support the purchase of the Responder 5 Staff Terminal. The Responder 5 device allows the hospital’s Emergency care team to anticipate a patient’s needs and gives them the ability to communicate and interface between multiple systems and devices used in the care of the patient, allowing the care team to respond even more quickly to a patient’s change in condition and their pain management.

Register your team today for the Foundation’s “Holes for Heart Care” Golf Benefit. There are a variety of sponsorships opportunities available with many levels to choose from. The HSHS St. Anthony’s Foundation expresses its thanks to Air Evac Lifeteam and Abbott EMS, Midland States Bank, and Consolidated Communications for their “Listen to your Heart” event sponsorship.
