Flat Rock Area Fire Protection District responded to 32 calls in 2017 - 166.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Flat Rock Area included 27 fires - 11 structure fires, two vehicle fires and 14 other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $728,225 in fire loss - or about $26,971 per fire.

The department also received four false calls.

The Flat Rock Area Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $53,403 in 2017.
