CITY OF EFFINGHAM: Effingham Develops Plan for replacing City Administrator
City of Effingham issued the following announcement on June 7.
The Effingham City Council will take their first steps in transitioning to a new City Administrator at the upcoming June 19, 2018 City Council Meeting, where upon approval they will be amending City Administrator James Arndt’s contract and appointing current City Clerk, Kelsey Lock, as Interim City Administrator.
Arndt will be taking the Paducah, KY City Manager’s position on July 1st, the date on which Lock’s appointment will take effect. Kelsey Lock 2
Lock has held the position of City Clerk for the past nine years and currently manages Human Resources, Communications, Finances and Utility Billing.
“I am happy for Jim Arndt as he expands his professional repertoire. Paducah is getting a good man,” stated Mayor Jeff Bloemker. “The good news for the City of Effingham is that our staff is made up of excellent technicians and seasoned managers who will have no trouble running with the ball.”
The City Council plans to utilize a professional executive recruiting firm to assist in the search to fill the City Administrator position. Several firms have been recommended to the City by close advisors and it is believed a presentation process will be realized at a future City Council Meeting.
“The City Council and the City staff have to be prepared for a six month recruiting process. We’ll be lucky to have disposition in this matter by the end of 2018. But all indicators are exhibiting that we’ll be just fine. I actually look forward to the process,” continued Mayor Bloemker.
