Miller reflects on Memorial Day

Chris Miller took time from his busy campaign schedule for reflection over Memorial Day weekend.

“This Memorial Day, take time to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our freedom,” Miller posted on Facebook.

The Oakland Republican running to replace retiring Rep. Reggie Phillips (R-Charleston) in the 110th District, seemed to wish there was even more he could do to pay his respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

“A large percentage of our country doesn't know of, or care about Normandy,” he added on Facebook. “A few weekends ago, British artist Jamie, accompanied by numerous volunteers, took to the beaches of Normandy with rakes and stencils in hand to etch 9,000 silhouettes into the sand, representing fallen soldiers. What is surprising is that nothing about this was seen here in the U.S.”

Miller has based his campaign on a pro-small business agenda that aims at ridding the state of what he has described as “burdensome state regulations.”

The 110th House District includes Coles County, Clark County, Cumberland County, Crawford County and part of Lawrence County.
