HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital issued the following announcement on May 17.
More than 90 years ago, the American Hospital Association HSHS created National Hospital Week to honor the men and women who support and serve their communities through their dedication and care. This year’s celebration week was May 6-12. HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital embraced this opportunity to thank all of the hospital’s dedicated physicians, nurses, engineers, dietary staff, volunteers, administrators and so many more for their support.
The hospital held activities each day to add fun. Activities included an ice cream social, a logo wear day and colleagues were encouraged to wear their favorite sports team apparel. There was a special Mass with a blessing of the hands. The week culminated with administrators and senior management serving colleagues.
HSHS Good Shepherd also celebrated National Nurses Week the same week. This celebration coincides with Florence Nightingale’s birthday.
This hospital recognized nurses for their important role in health care. HSHS Good Shepherd recognized nurses who create a positive, caring environment for the patients. Those recognized for excellence in nursing included Tina Shutts, Kerri Hayes, Carol Wilson and Brandi Price. Others nominated were Rebecca Burrus, Angie Jesse, Jessica Saunders, Crystal Smart, Mary Clawson and Jennifer Gatton. Cassidy Bolin received the partner in nursing award, with recognition going to Jeannie Huff, Carla Johnson and Anthony O’Rourke.
“We look forward to National Hospital and Nurses weeks each year,” HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital CEO and President Aaron Puchbauer said. “We have a lot of fun. It is also our chance to recognize our colleagues for their service to our community’s health and wellness.”
