Newton Public Library Board met April 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Trustees of the Newton Public Library District met April 16, 2018, at 5:00P.M. Present was Deborah Urfer, Pam Bierman, Ilene Woods, Peter Pasero, Mark Dougherty, Travis Farley and Director Jacque Holsapple.

President Dougherty called the meeting to order.

The secretary’s report was reviewed and will stand as presented,

The treasurer’s report was reviewed. It will stand approved as presented.

The March, April bills were reviewed. Trustee Woods made a motion to pay the bills, seconded by Trustee Bierman, motion passed.

Director’s Report:

Three hundred thirteen books were acquired. Eighty were deleted. Money from fines, computers cards, copier, printer, taxes and miscellaneous was $443.25. Three new cards were issued.

Old Business:

Director Holsapple has registered for Directors University at the Illinois State Library from June 4-8.

Embarras River Tourism Council and the Newton Public Library District are sponsoring a day filled with information about area writers. There will be exhibits, presentations and readings from Illinois authors. This will take place on April 19, 10:00A.M. – 7:00P.M. at the library.

Part time employees were discussed. No action was taken at this time.

The 2018 Newton Power Station Settlement Agreement has been signed and returned.

New Business:

Building insurance of $2,205.00 is due April 25.

IMRF was discussed. The attorney for the library, Phillip Lenzini, will be asked to clarify questions that were brought up.

Second grade classes will visit the library and museum on May 11. Director Holsapple will go to the first grade classes on May 18 to talk about the summer reading program.

Sign up for the summer reading program is May 29 – June 2.
