Report: Stewardson-Strasburg spent $8,522 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Stewardson-Strasburg Community Unit School District 5A is down 6 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Shelby County school district spent $9,057 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $8,522 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 364 to 349.

Stewardson-Strasburg's spending in 2016-17 was 34 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
