Report: Charleston spent $9,279 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Charleston Community Unit School District No.1 is down 1 percent from five years ago, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Coles County school district spent $9,362 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,279 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 2740 to 2788.

Charleston's spending in 2016-17 was 28 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
