Analysis: Mattoon pays $5.54 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Mattoon Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.7 percent of the $1,637,120 the Mattoon Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.54 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Mattoon contributed $1,403,050 to the fund, which saw a $7,636 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $253,098, or 15.5 percent, in 2016.
