Analysis: Mattoon pays $6.74 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Mattoon Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 87.1 percent of the $1,570,435 the Mattoon Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.74 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Mattoon contributed $1,367,692 to the fund, which saw a $11,203 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $202,743, or 12.9 percent, in 2016.
