Analysis: Effingham pays $5.12 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Effingham Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.7 percent of the $657,960 the Effingham Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.12 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Effingham contributed $550,492 to the fund, which saw a $3,666 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $107,469, or 16.3 percent, in 2016.
