Analysis: Charleston pays $3.18 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Charleston Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 75.7 percent of the $965,421 the Charleston Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $3.18 for every $1 from pension members, according to a East Central Reporter analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Charleston contributed $730,357 to the fund, which saw a $109,738 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $229,505, or 23.8 percent, in 2016. Another $5,559 came from other unspecified sources.
