Paris Community Unit School District 4 Board of Education met December 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Community Unit School District No. 4, Edgar County, was held on December 13, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the workroom of Crestwood School, Paris, Illinois. Those present were Jim Blue, Mary Liz Wright, Mike Reed, Kit Kirby, Keith Trogdon, Jarrod Dyer, Paul Porter, Superintendent Danette Young, and Principal Dan Lynch. Guests were Nancy Zeman from the Prairie Press and Josh McCarty.

Motion by Wright, seconded by Kirby to approve minutes of the November 8, 2017 regular board meeting. Wright, aye; Kirby, aye; Blue, aye; Trogdon, aye; Reed, aye; Dyer, aye; Porter, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Dyer, seconded by Trogdon to approve current bills. Kirby, aye; Wright, aye; Blue, aye; Trogdon, aye; Dyer, aye; Reed, aye; Porter, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Kirby, seconded by Reed to adopt 2017 levy based upon an EAV of $108,000,000 with an extension of $3,682,200. Trogdon, aye; Porter, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye; Dyer, aye; Kirby, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

The annual Bond Review Report was given.

Motion by Wright, seconded by Dyer to approve first reading of the following policies per the attached document. Trogdon, aye; Porter, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye; Dyer, aye; Kirby, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Trogdon, seconded by Reed to approve renewal of the worker’s compensation insurance to IPRF with Weis Insurance Agency at an annual premium of $11,430 with a renewal date of January 1, 2018. Trogdon, aye; Porter, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye; Dyer, aye; Kirby, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Blue, seconded by Porter to enter executive session at 6:47 P.M. to discuss appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. (5 ILCS 120/2(c) (1). Wright, aye; Kirby, aye; Reed, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Dyer, aye; Porter, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Blue, seconded by Porter to exit executive session at 7:28 P.M. Reed, aye; Trogdon, aye; Dyer, aye; Kirby, aye; Blue, aye; Wright, aye; Porter, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Porter, seconded by Wright to approve a leave of absence for Lori Hough through January 3, 2018. Kirby, aye; Porter, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Kirby, seconded by Dyer to approve Morgan Wood as a volunteer 5th and 6th grade girls’ basketball coach. Kirby, aye; Porter, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 7 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.
