Hope Welty Public Library District Board of Trustees met December 13.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

Call to Order:

The regular meeting of the Hope Welty Public Library ( HWPL) District Board of Trustees was held at the library on December 13,2017. President Mary Hissong called the meeting to order at 3:30pm. Answering roll call were: Janice Lonnon, Mary Hissong, Linda Martin, Amy Williams, Brenda Hart and Library Director, Shari Rawlings. Chelle Shivley arrived a few minutes later.

Public Forum:

Jeff Rawlings, spouse of director Shari Rawlings, addressed the board concerning their health insurance for the calendar year 2018. The Cerro Gordo Village Board, Jeff's employer, have reached an agreement with village amployees to cover them with BCBS of Illinois for 2018. Therefore, Shari will also be covered under village plan. Due to a change in the rules the Rawlings are no longer limited in the amount they can earn in the year 2018. As a result, the board will address the issue of a raise/ bonus for Shari in January 2018.

Minutes of Last HWPL Meeting:

Each trustee silently read the minutes of the November 8,2017 meeting. Chelle Shivley moved to accept the minutes as read. Amy Williams seconded the motion. All present voted aye. Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report:

Chelle Shivley reported a balance of $221,728.04 before paying this month's bills. Expenses for the month are $10,950.49. Chelle Shivley moved expenses be allowed and Brenda Hart seconded the motion. Roll call vote yes: Mary Hissong, Janice Lonnon, Chelle Shivley, Linda Martin, Brenda Hart ,and Amy Williams. No nays. Lisa Forbes absent. Motion carried.

Time for Director:

Director Shari Rawlings noted that there will be a Soup Day at the library on Wed, Jan. 10 from 11:30 am to approximately 1:30 pm.

Shari informed the board that there will be a Tea for Ladies on Feb.3 2018. Theme will be a Valentine's tea for ages 12 and up. A woman from Bloomington, Il will be presenting the tea.

Director Shari Rawlings commented that a representative from our external auditors will be attending the January 2018 meeting.

Due to a change in law, Shari stated that the library must have Sexual Harassment Policy must be adopted by the bosrd by January 15, 2018. Chelle Shivley agreed to work with Shari to write such policy and will present at the January board meeting.

In order to apply for the Per Capita Grant, the library has drawn up a new safety sheet which includes all exits for the library.

Shari stated that the library participated in the Christmas Parade held on December 2,2017 and distributed cups advertising the library.

Shari noted that Brenda Hart, new board member, has completed the online Freedom of Information Act questionnaire and is now able to sign checks for the library as well.

Old Business:

Bathroom Tile / Cleaned - the bathrooms have been painted and the tile was expected to be cleaned the next day. 12/ 14/17.

New Business:

Insurance Review - Shari Rawlings noted that she will contact Todd Henricks to discuss.

Web Page - the library web page was down for a period of time but is now back up.

Heartland now needs to fix theirs as well.

The next regular meeting for the HWPL District Board of Trustees will be January 10,2018 at 3:30 pm at the library.

Janice Lonnon moved to adjourn the meeting at 4:00 pm and Amy Williams seconded the motion. All present voted aye. Motion carried.
