U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL) recently nominated 11 local students to the U.S. military academies.

This year’s nominees from Davis' 13th Congressional District are Danielle Cross of Normal; Isaac Hagberg of Bloomington; Nicholas Jarman of Mount Olive; Nicholas Kennedy of Plainview; Joshua Moore of Springfield; Ryan Poggenpohl of Raymond; Ethan Severns of Bloomington; Devonte Smith of Blue Mound; Gavin Smith of Hinsdale; Keelie Stork of Jerseyville; Brett Tuttle of Jerseyville; and Lam Vaughn of McLean, a release from Davis' office said.

“As a member of Congress, I have the privilege of nominating these accomplished young men and women to our nation’s service academies,” Davis said in the release “The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military upon graduation, so I applaud these students for their decision to serve and wish them the best of luck.”

Members of Congress can nominate exceptional young people from their districts each year to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. The individual academies make final admission decisions.
