The Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System said its 19th annual Festival of Trees in Mattoon had record success this year.
The three-day winter wonderland held last month raised more than $160,000 for the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation, a Sarah Lincoln Bush blog post stated.
“We had an unbelievable year. People were very generous with their donations, as were those who bid on and purchased items,” Kim Lockart, the event's coordinator, said in the blog post.
Christmas trees, wreaths and other Christmas decorations transform the Lumpkin Family Center for Health Education each year for the event.but the response this year was better than years past. The health center said in the blog post that they were told this year had the most beautifully decorated trees.
Funds from the festival are being used for the foundation's new campaign, “"Life ... Nothing Beats It," which aims to expand the hospital's cardiology department by adding a new health center and patient rooms.
This years’ festival also allowed people to purchase an engraved star to remember someone special at the Memory Star Tree, with the money raised benefiting Lincolnland Hospice.
