Music of the season will be on tap at the Effingham Cross Christmas Open House on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Cross at the Crossroads, the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce's website said.
The festivities begin at 1 p.m. with a performance of secular and religious Christmas music by the vocal ensemble On High. At 2 p.m., the Fine Arts, County of Effingham, community choir will perform holiday selections that will include “Noel” and “See Amid the Winter Snow.” The choir will be joined by a string quartet. The FACE Orchestra will follow with Christmas selections at 2:30 p.m., the posting said
Admission to the event is free.
The Cross, dubbed the largest cross in America at 198 feet tall and 113 feet wide according to RoadsideAmerica.com, is located at the intersection of interstates 57 and 70 in Effingham. An estimated 20 million people drive by the Cross annually, the Cross Foundation said.
FACE was founded in 1973, the organization's Facebook page reported. The organization is made up of three groups: the community theater known as the FACE Players, the orchestra and the Effingham Community Chorus.
