North Clay Community Unit School District 25 Board of Education met Aug. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

President Chris Bible called the meeting to order at 5:30 P.M.

President Bible opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and David Simmons led the prayer.

Roll Call was taken with the following members present: Chris Bible, Jenny McKinney, Tony Smith, David Simmons, Jonathon Carroll and Anthony Dawkins. Barry Adair attended via teleconference. Members absent: none.

Others present were: Superintendent, Monty Aldrich, Principals, Jessica Guzman and Keith Price, and Recording Secretary Tina Gaddy.

The new Agriculture Teacher, Katrina VanDyke, was present and introduced.

Some parents were present to ask for transportation to be provided for jr. high softball going to Clay City for practices and competition. The board directed Athletic Director/Assistant Principal to pursue the matter to see if it could be worked out with the Sports Boosters or other methods of funding. Mr. Deadmond will report back to the board next week.

A motion was made by McKinney, seconded by Smith, to enter closed session for the purpose

of:

a. The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, security, or dismissal of specific employees of the district 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1)

Ayes: Bible, Dawkins, Adair, Carroll, Simmons, Smith and McKinney. Nays: None. Motion carried.

The board met in closed session from 5:54 P.M. to 6:31 P.M. McKinney left at 6:21.

A motion was made by Simmons, seconded by Smith, to enter open session. Ayes: Carroll, Adair, Bible, Dawkins, Smith and Simmons. Nays: None. Motion carried. Upon returning to open session the following motions were made: 

A motion was made by Smith, seconded by Simmons, to accept the resignation of Whitney Hill as Music/Band Teacher effective immediately. Ayes: Carroll, Adair, Dawkins, Bible, Simmons and Smith. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Simmons, seconded by Smith, to hire Grace Majors as Music/Band Teacher for the 2017-18 school year. Ayes: Bible, Smith, Simmons, Carroll, Dawkins and Adair. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Carroll, seconded by Simmons, to accept the resignation of Jennifer Sparlin as cook and part-time custodian effective immediately. Ayes: Smith, Dawkins, Bible, Adair, Simmons and Carroll. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Smith, seconded by Carroll to hire Belinda Bridges as part-time custodian for the 2017-18 school year. Ayes: Simmons, Dawkins, Adair, Carroll, Smith and Bible. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Carroll, seconded by Smith to hire Julie Jones as cook for the 2017-18 school year. Ayes: Smith, Simmons, Dawkins, Adair, Carroll and Bible. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Simmons, seconded by Carroll, to hire Kari Deadmond as Jr. High Assistant Volleyball Coach and Interim Assistant High School Volleyball coach for the 2017-18 school year. Ayes: Dawkins, Adair, Smith, Bible, Carroll and Simmons. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Simmons, seconded by Carroll, to hire Crystal Ballard Volunteer Assistant Girls Jr. High Basketball Coach for the 2017-18 school year. Ayes: Bible, Adair, Dawkins, Simmons and Carroll. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Simmons, seconded by Carroll, to approve advertising for an elementary teacher and grant administration the authority to hire that position. Ayes: Simmons, Carroll, Adair, Bible, Smith and Dawkins. Nays: None. Motion carried. 

A motion was made by Simmons, seconded by Carroll, to adjourn the meeting. Ayes: Adair, Bible, Smith, Simmons, Dawkins and Adair. Nays: None. Motion carried
