Paris Community Unit School District 4 Board of Education met Aug. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Community Unit School District No. 4, Edgar County, was held on August 9, 2017 at 6:30 P.M. in the workroom of Crestwood School, Paris, Illinois. Those present were Jim Blue, Mary Liz Wright, Mike Reed, Kit Kirby, Keith Trogdon, Jarrod Dyer, Superintendent Danette Young, and Principal Dan Lynch. Guests were Nancy Zeman from the Prairie Press, and Josh McCarty.

Motion by Wright, seconded by Kirby to approve minutes of the July 12, 2017 regular board meeting. Wright, aye; Kirby, aye; Blue, aye; Trogdon, aye; Reed, aye; Dyer, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried

Motion by Wright, seconded by Dyer to approve current bills. Kirby, aye; Wright, aye; Blue, aye; Trogdon, aye; Dyer, aye; Reed, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

The tentative budget was presented.

Motion by Kirby, seconded by Reed to set budget hearing date for September 13, 2017 at 6:15 PM at Crestwood School. Trogdon, aye; Dyer, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Kirby, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Trogdon, seconded by Dyer to approve the Memorandum of Understanding between Eastern Illinois University, Specifically Its Educator Preparation Programs as Governed by the Council on Teacher Education and Paris Community Unit School District No. 4 per attached sheet. Trogdon, aye; Porter, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye; Kirby, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Blue, seconded by Kirby to enter executive session at 6:55 PM to discuss appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees and other matters relating to students. (5 ILCS 120/2(d). Wright, aye; Kirby, aye; Reed, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Dyer, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Blue, seconded by Kirby to exit executive session at 7:54 PM. Reed, aye; Trogdon, aye; Dyer, aye; Kirby, aye; Blue, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Kirby, seconded by Wright to accept the resignation of Dianna “Sis” Satterfield as school cook effective immediately. Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Wright, seconded by Reed to accept the resignation of Vicky Funkhouser as school cook effective immediately. Kirby, aye; Porter aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Trogdon, seconded by Wright to accept the resignation of Wendy Wright as Project Help teacher effective immediately. Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Trogdon, seconded by Dyer to hire Megan Randolph as an elementary teacher for the 2017-2018 school year per the contractual rate. Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Kirby, seconded by Wright to hire Erik Trogdon as assistant boys’ basketball coach for the 2017-2018 school year per the contractual rate. Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, abstain; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 5 ayes. 1 abstain. No nays. Motion carried

Motion by Kirby, seconded by Reed to hire Lori Hough as a cook for the 2017- 2018 school year per at a rate of $10.00 per hour. Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Wright, seconded by Trogdon to hire Mariah McConkey as a cook for the 2017-2018 school year per at a rate of $10.00 per hour. Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Blue, aye; Reed, aye; Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.

Motion by Blue, seconded by Kirby to adjourn the meeting at 8:12 PM. Blue, aye; Kirby, aye; Dyer, aye; Trogdon, aye; Reed, aye, Wright, aye. 6 ayes. No nays. Motion carried.
