Bismarck Henning Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met April 24.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

The organizational meeting of the 2017-2019 Board of Education of Community Unit School District No. 1 was called to order at 6:05 p.m. in the Ellen R. Morris Board Room.  

The following members were in attendance:

Cheryl Brumett, Maridith Hearnley, Ron Winkler, Dave Clapp, Steve Lane, Justin Watt, Tricia Hagley

President Pro-Tem, Scott Watson, administered the Oath of Office to Tricia Hagley, Maridith Hearnley, Steve Lane and Justin Watt.

Motion by Steve Lane to nominate Dave Clapp for the office of President, second by Tricia Hagley to nominate Dave Clapp for office of president and to close nominations.  Dave Clapp was elected to the office of President by unanimous voice vote.

President Clapp then asked for nominations for the office of Vice President.  Motion by Ron Winkler, second by Tricia Hagley to nominate Steve Lane for the office of Vice-President and to close nominations.  Steve Lane was elected to the office of Vice-President by unanimous voice vote.

President Clapp then asked for nominations for the office of Secretary.  Motion by Ron Winkler, second by Tricia Hagley to nominate Cheryl Brumett for the office of Secretary and to close nominations.

Cheryl Brumett was elected to the office of Secretary by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Cheryl Brumett, second by Tricia Hagley to accept the prior Board of Education policies and actions.  Motion carried by unanimous roll call vote.

Motion by Cheryl Brumett, second by Justin Watt to accept the resignation of Lisa Zarembski as junior high teacher at the end of the 2016-2017 school year.  Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Cheryl Brumett, second by Justin Watt to accept the resignation of John Cameron as Director of Technology and bus driver at a date to be determined.  Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Ballots were passed out to determine the representative on the Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin Cooperative High School Governing Board.  Board members were instructed to vote for 3 people.

Steve Lane received 6 votes, Cheryl Brumett received 5 votes and Ron Winkler received 3 votes.  These board members along with Dave Clapp, acting as president will be on the B-H/R-A Cooperative High School Governing Board.  The governing board organizational meeting will be April 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the Ellen R. Morris board room.  Motion to accept these results by Tricia Hagley, second by Maridith Hearnley.  Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Ron Winkler, second by Tricia Hagley to adjourn meeting at 6:15 p.m.
