Steve Shoaff certainly got his point across at the May 1 Shelbyville Township Board meeting, although it’s anyone’s guess as to what exactly prompted him.

The township supervisor resigned twice: once from his then-current term and again from the term that would have begun Monday, according to the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).

Shoaff did not offer any reason for quitting.

The same meeting also saw the Shelbyville Township attorney resign from her position as the township’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) officer and announce that she would not seek to renew her contract as attorney.

The ECW had previously pointed out that she could not serve as the FOIA officer if she was not an employee or official of the township. She claimed that she was an employee, but that also is against statute because she cannot not serve as the attorney if it is also her employer.
