Arcola City Council declares surplus property

The Arcola City Council met Oct. 17 to declare surplus city property.

Here are the meeting's minutes, as provided by the council:

The Arcola City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month. Meetings are held at the Municipal Building, 114 N. Locust St.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR ARCOLA CITY COUNCIL MEETING Monday, October 17, 2016

Mayor Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Guyot, Foran, Huckstep, Smith and Moore. Alderwoman Key was not present. City Administrator Wagoner, Treasurer Harvey, Chief Phillips and Attorney Bequette were also present.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Alderman Guyot led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

PUBLIC COMMENT Kevin McReynolds of the Coles County Regional Planning spoke on the Homeowner Occupied Housing Grant Program. They are hoping to rehab 3 homes in Arcola for homeowners that apply and meet the qualifications.

APPROVAL OF OCTOBER 03, 2016 COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES Alderman Smith moved to approve the October 03, 2016 council meeting minutes as presented and was seconded by Alderman Guyot. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF OCTOBER 01 – OCTOBER 14, 2016 BILLS Alderwoman Moore moved to approve the October 01 – October 14, 2016 bills as presented and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 16-S-12, DECLARING SURPLUS PROPERTY AND SALE OF THE SAME Alderman Smith moved to approve Ordinance No. 16-S-12 and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

CONSIDER AND APPROVE ORDINANCE NO. 16-C-5, AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3 OF THE ARCOLA MUNICIPAL CODE Alderman Smith moved to table this at this time and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Alderman Guyot Reported the Police, Ordinance & Enforcement Committee met prior to this meeting and immediately went into executive session. This meeting will continue following the regular council meeting.

Alderman Foran Reported the Park Committee met prior to this meeting and listened to a presentation on projected splash park and other changes being considered for park.

Alderwoman Huckstep Had nothing at this time.

Alderman Smith Had nothing at this time.

Alderwoman Moore Had nothing at this time.

As this concluded the business of the meeting, Alderwoman Huckstep moved to adjourn and was seconded by Alderman Foran. Council approved unanimously by voice vote.

Adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
