SBL plans new walk-in Mattoon clinic
A tract of land to the east of Mattoon will undergo transformation this fall as Sarah Bush Lincoln (SBL) doubles its clinic size with the construction of a 5,000-square-foot, $2 million building in a much-needed expansion.
SBL acquired the tract, situated just south of its existing walk-in facility at Mattoon Marketplace, for $106,500. With a patient base that virtually quadrupled in four years, staffers anticipate better service as well as more ample surroundings for their patients.
“Since we opened the walk-in clinic in 2012 at Mattoon Marketplace, we’ve experienced tremendous growth going from a little more than 5,000 patient visits a year to nearly 20,000 patient visits a year,” SBL Practice Management VP Jerry Esker. “This site has only five exam rooms for three medical providers and the lobby isn’t large enough to accommodate the number of people seeking care.”
Construction on the additional facility will commence in fall 2016 and is expected to last for approximately eight months. The building’s street address is slated to be 200 Dettro Drive; SBL’s architecture firm is Utz and Associates of Effingham.
Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center maintains approximately 40 locations: in Mattoon, Shelbyville, Sullivan, Toledo, Martinville, Effingham, Charleston, Casey, Arthur, Altamont, Neoga and Arcola.
