The Arcola City Council recently approved a number of ordinances.

Arcola City Council carried a motion to approve Ordinance No. 16-Z-2 in a regular meeting Feb. 16.

Mayor Larry Ferguson called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Members present were Alderpersons Mark Smith, Kendall Moore, John Guyot and Terry Foran. City Administrator Bill Wagoner and City Attorney Andrew Bequette were also present. Alderpersons William "Casey" Reece and Sue Key, along with Treasurer Fred Harvey, were not present in the meeting.

Smith led the council and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. There was no public comment, as the meeting started with the approval of minutes from the Feb. 1 council meeting.

Moore moved a motion to approve the Jan. 30-Feb. 12 bills as presented. The motion, seconded by Guyot, was carried. In the January Zoning Officer’s Report, two special use permits issued in January, with $90 in fees, collected. Foran moved a motion to approve the report as presented. Smith seconded the motion, and it was declared carried.

A motion to approve Ordinance No. 16-Z-3 -- moved by Smith and seconded by Foran -- was seconded by Foran. The ordinance was about amending the classification of zoning for the property at 402 East Route 133 from R-4 multi-family to B-1 commercial.

Foran reported that the Street & Alley Committee had met prior to the meeting and discussed the Libman Road project and Arco-Acres projects.
