The Charleston Carnegie Public Library board will consider a proposal to launch a nonresident library-card program at its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the library, 712 Sixth St.

The library provides free services to all residents living within Charleston city limits, with services currently available to nonresidents for a fee.

The board also will discuss an upcoming fundraiser, the director’s appraisal of the personnel committee, the library's filing of an economic statement of interest and the library officer election at the next meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. on April 4.

The board also is expected to hold a closed session to discuss any sensitive personnel issues.

Meetings are open to the public, and public-comment sessions are held during meetings.
