Brad Halbrook, a candidate for State Representative in the 102nd
State Representative District, recently criticized the Chicago-based
Democratic leaders of the Illinois General Assembly for their
unwillingness to change.
"Speaker Madigan and
President Cullerton appear to be content with running the state in the
same way that it's been run for the last decade and which has put us in
this bad situation," wrote Halbrook in his Chicago Tribune candidate
questionnaire.
Halbrook served as State
Representative in the 110th District from 2012 to 2015. He is now
running to serve in the 102nd State Representative District.
"The two Democratic leaders are intelligent," added Halbrook.
"The Governor's way of addressing these issues is unconventional in
their experience and I think they've been slow to take him seriously."
Nevertheless,
Halbrook sounded a hopeful note about Madigan and Cullerton eventually
coming to the table to "engage in serious negotiations."
"I'll always stand for my principles, regardless of the pressure from any political leaders," he concluded.
