The Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center has plans to build a Neoga clinic.
Hoping to select an architect by early summer, Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center executives plan to build a new top-notch clinic on three recently purchased land parcels in Neoga.
The properties, next to the health center's facility at 650 Oak Ave., currently includes four structures — a car wash, a laundromat, a home and a vacant building. The current facility will be razed to allow for a larger parking lot for the clinic, and the new treatment center will be designed to complement the other Sarah Bush Lincoln clinics, with architectural features such as brick facades and canopies over entrances, as well as enhanced reception areas and exam rooms.
The Neoga clinic will house two providers: Janice Vandeveer, family practitioner; and Iven Boehm. Facilities Services Director Tim Kastl said the project is expected to last for approximately seven months, hopefully culminating in early 2017.
The clinic, a major source of health care in the Neoga area, is named after the second wife of Thomas Lincoln and stepmother of former President Abraham Lincoln, who lived from 1788 to 1869.
In addition to the Neoga facility, the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center maintains close to 40 other Illinois locations — in Mattoon, Shelbyville, Sullivan, Toledo, Martinville, Effingham, Charleston, Casey, Arthur, Altamont and Arcola.
